The women appeared on the show to talk through Moore’s new memoir Inside Out, where she also opens up about her struggles during her marriage to ex-husband Ashton Kutcher. In addition to Moore’s struggles with addiction, the three also talked about how her marriage with Kutcher affected the family. The actress, 56, appeared on the Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk on Monday to speak about her struggles with addiction and her marriage to the actor, 41.
First, there was her perception of how she needed to change herself to please her younger husband. Second, according to Moore, Kutcher was not exactly supportive of her efforts at maintaining her long-term sobriety. At one point, she recalls him saying, “I don’t know if alcoholism’s a thing. I think it’s about moderation.” So to appease his misconception about her disease, she relapsed and started drinking again, ending twenty years of sobriety. Because, as she says, “When you don’t have an off switch, you go until you can’t go anymore.” Much worse, Moore claims that Kutcher would mock and shame her by taking pictures of her when she was drunk.
Career ascent
After a whirlwind romance, Moore wrote that Willis eventually thought her career was taking time away from their family, and that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be married. “If I’d had to give up the movie and go through the program to get sober for myself, I doubt I would have done it,” she wrote. “I just didn’t value myself enough for that. But with the film at stake, and this enormous support from Craig Baumgarten, Joel Schumacher, and his colleagues, who I didn’t want to let down, I had something much bigger than me to fight for. And so I did.” Demi Moore is revisiting her days on the set of St. Elmo’s Fire, revealing to former costar Andrew McCarthy that she had a 24/7 sober companion on set with her amid her addiction struggles. Footage of the frivolities (shot by Entertainment Tonight) first found its way online in 2012 but has been largely ignored until recently.

- In January 2012, after months of partying and drastic weight loss, Moore collapsed into convulsions at her L.A.
- Demi Moore was named woman of the year at the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House’s 29th Annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday — and she took the opportunity to get candid about her own recovery.
- Her most notable early stories, however, involve her mother’s first attempted suicide and the time Moore was raped at the age of 15.
Moore got into details about her addiction to exercise during the height of her acting career. She said her “obsession with working out” began with her training for the movie A Few Good Men, in which she played a naval lawyer. The actress had just given birth to her second daughter with Willis, Scout, and she pushed herself to the edge to lose the baby weight.
When she hit 44, she opened up about how difficult it was to be a middle-aged woman in the film industry. And it seems sun rock weed strain Moore’s relationship with her daughters is back on track, as Scout Willis wrote a glowing tribute to her mom ― whom she called “the funniest, strangest person I know” ― to celebrate her Harper’s Bazaar cover. Now, in a healthier space, she’s able to reflect on her past behavior.

“I find it embarrassing, hateful and demeaning,” the actress complained at the time. “The man who wrote that seems jealous because we are young and talented, so he filled the article with lies. He implied we all hate each other.” Two of Demi Moore’s daughters recall how “jarring” it was when the actress relapsed into substance abuse a few years ago, saying it was “like a monster came.” As she spiraled further, Tallulah and Scout stopped speaking to Moore for three years, while Rumer kept in touch sporadically.
According to Digital Music News, calls for Moore to be added to the list of offenders have been growing, though Tanzini (who joked about the fact that the actress was married to Freddy Moore during the video) has declined to comment. He certainly didn’t seem to mind at the time, and it looks as though he wants to keep the incident in the past. Demi Moore’s call for women to unite is particularly timely considering what’s happening in Hollywood right now. But in an unexpected turn of events, the actress has been dragged into the sexual abuse scandal herself — and she’s on the wrong side of it.
Parenting with, Then Divorcing, Bruce Willis
Demi Moore’s fading reputation took another bashing in 2009 when she was named and shamed by animal activist group PETA for the excessive amount of animal fur in her wardrobe. After a poll on their website named the actress the year’s Worst Dressed celeb in Tinsel Town, PETA told Access Hollywood, “She may be a cougar, but that’s not helping fur-loving Demi Moore in the eyes of animal lovers.” After allegedly spending a small fortune on changing her appearance only to be told she still was no longer suitable for the strong, sexy roles she used to get, Demi Moore spoke out against ageism in Hollywood, blaming it for her relegation from the A-list. The Scarlet Letter (1995) barely managed to claw back a fifth of its budget, Razzie favorite Striptease became Hollywood slang for box office bomb after a horrible performance in 1996, and G.I. Jane (for which Moore shaved her head) was a resounding disappointment domestically. She seems to have been on a downward spiral for years, which makes it kind of obvious as to why she’s become so reclusive, but let’s see if we can decipher the real reason we don’t hear from her anymore.
Moore herself gave a soul-baring interview to Lena Dunham published last month in Harper’s Bazaar in which she spoke candidly about losing her sobriety in her 40s before regaining it in her 50s. Moore previously discussed her addiction and recovery while accepting the Woman of the Year Award from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House in October. “I think the root of what really fulfills us in life is being of service,” Moore shared with reporters at the event. The public reaction to Kutcher and Moore’s relationship was overwhelmingly negative, and as Moore reveals in her memoir, the behind-the-scenes of their relationship was often fraught.
